Yahoo!’s first-ever Talent Show gives you $50K

After Google’s purchase of Youtube, David Katz, Head of Yahoo! Studios, just released some words :

“With the launch of this new contest, Yahoo! demonstrates our commitment to continue offering the most original, high-quality video content for our users”

So what’s Yahoo! Talent Show ?

An eight-week online video contest dedicated to discovering the hottest original talent on the Internet. Starting today, an open call invites users to send in their submissions by uploading video clips of themselves demonstrating their best talents. Also, a skill based competition in which participants will compete to be selected as the next Yahoo! online celebrity talent. The winning entry will be awarded US$50,000 cash and a development deal to star in or produce their own online show on Yahoo!.

Moreover, the Yahoo! Talent Show is a nationwide search to find the next great Internet celebrity. Residents of the 50 United States & District of Columbia who are over the age of 18 can participate. Simply upload a video that best highlights your skills and talent…whatever they may be.

How do you enter the Yahoo! Talent Show? Simply upload a video in the following formats: ASF, AVI, MOV, MPEG, QT, DV, or WMV. All contents of the video, including music, must be original. No use of copyrighted materials will be permitted. Also make sure that anyone you are featuring in your video has given you their permission to appear in your video. Your video must be no more than 10 minutes in total running time.

The web format in which the contest presents itself (it even has a host, yes) is similar to Yahoo 9.

Well, good luck :)
