As websites grow bigger and bigger, it doesn’t mean that their content gets cleaner, or that their services are more friendly.
Spyware and Sex
Take a look at Softpedia: sex, gambling, spyware (and we all know that “emoticons” websites are amongst the very best on the web, for hosting spyware in their little installation kits, or even web pages) etc..
And they even have those silly “Certified by SoftPedia”, spyware free images, like this one:

I mean, sheesh people: watch what ads show up in your website. Or only the $$$ are important ?
Breaching Google Adsense’s TOS
They show Adsense ads together with Vibrant Media’s InteliTXT ads:
Google does NOT allow Vibrant Media OR Kontera ads, to be displayed on the same page as Adsense ads are:
Thanks for checking in with us. According to our program policies, Kontera and IntelliTXT ads may not be displayed on the same page as Google ads on your site. However, you are welcome to display those ads on pages of your site that do not include Google ads.
In general, AdSense program policy does not permit Google ads to be published on the same page as other contextually-targeted ads. You can review this, and all Google AdSense program policies, at https://www.google.com/adsense/policies .

What more can I say ? :)

huh, softpedia suc k, didn’t you know yet? :)
I can see why google doesn’t want to be affiliated with that - I mean people HATE those smileys ads. Just look at them.
According to a study by a major US university, the most effective ads are the ones which are seemlessly integrated into the site. Ie. You can’t tell the difference between the ad and the site.
As far as I see, he wants to be, because Softpedia stil shows those smilie ads, adult ads, InteliTXT AND Adsense.
Bogdan GHEORGHE from Softpedia, rated the article with minimum points.
Go figure why :)
Sure sure, their ads may suck. And, ok, yes, yippee, most of their ads really do suck bad.
But here’s what’s really important :
IF you download software only from softpedia and NOT from their advertisers, it will, at least for the very large part, be safe & good software.
I have found eg. icontool (which is definitely malware) being certified with Softpedia’s “100%” shitty image. Anyway, one can find tons of softepedia’s hidden self-advertising posted on games, software and other portals. Does anyone have any idea, how to stop them?
