It’s not a rumor anymore. From the Google Press Center:

Google Inc. announced today that it has agreed to acquire YouTube, the consumer media company for people to watch and share original videos through a Web experience, for $1.65 billion in a stock-for-stock transaction. Following the acquisition, YouTube will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and passionate community.

Again, some of these pages are indeed still public, but either have not been seen by many people, have been missed or are just very hard to find. The rest are just NOT public anymore and can be found either by searching the search engines for keywords, or by consulting the sitemap.xml and the robots.txt files:

Michael Arrington estimates a 40% chance of the rumor beeing true was right.

The price tag swings around $1.5 - $2 billion.

So is Google Video’s winning streak so far, that Google is paying 2 billion to not see YouTube in front ?

Update: It’s the real thing. Google and YouTube are in acquisition talks. The Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times are also publishing concrete reports about the acquisition.

Yes. I think it’s the real PR update, the one that didn’t happened for a year now. A PR update for all websites, not just for new websites that didn’t had PR before.

I got PR6 for this blog, and generally, nice figures for other websites. AliveDirectory got PR7, Digitalpoint got PR8, Webmasterworld got PR8.

Via Digitalpoint.

So after beeing CTO at Sun Microsystems, chairman and CEO at Novell and presently CEO at Google, he’s now a member in Apple’s board of directors.

Tough job for Eric, so it seems. He’s got a lot on his head now :)

I got only two questions: Confidentiality ? Industrial espionage ? Aren’t those in question here ?
